Day 28

1 John 1:8-10 (The Message)

If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense. On the other hand, if we admit our sins—make a clean breast of them—he won’t let us down; he’ll be true to himself. He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing. If we claim that we’ve never sinned, we out-and-out contradict God—make a liar out of him. A claim like that only shows off our ignorance of God.

Day 27

We’ve been forgiven (Psst! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!)

So, what’s this QCB all about? In one simple word: forgiveness. When we step out of that front door to go on our quest, we might have thoughts about past mistakes that bog us down and make us feel like we’ll be ineffective. What’s the way to overcome this obstacle? Forgiveness: forgive yourself. God has! How awesome is that! Continue reading Day 27

Day 23

Luke 7: 41-43

“Two men were in debt to a banker. One owed five hundred silver pieces, the other fifty. Neither of them could pay up, and so the banker cancelled both debts. Which of the two would be more grateful?”

Simon answered, “I suppose the one who was forgiven the most.” Continue reading Day 23

Day 11

      Remembering Positive Verses

This week we’re looking at the parable of the salt and the importance of being shiny. It’s very easy to become downtrodden and feel you’re not worthy to shine. There are moments when I feel like a very rotten person who has no right to try and make a difference. Continue reading Day 11

Day 9

Matthew 5:13-16 (The Message)

Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavours of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.

Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.  Continue reading Day 9

Day 2

Luke 5:34-39 (The Message)

“No one cuts up a fine silk scarf to patch old work clothes; you want fabrics that match. And you don’t put wine in old, cracked bottles; you get strong, clean bottles for your fresh vintage wine. And no one who has ever tasted fine aged wine prefers unaged wine.” Continue reading Day 2
